Prisoner of Hope

In Zechariah 9:12 We find a beautiful scripture that says "Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you". What is a prisoner of hope? He or she is that person who refuses to give up on what they are believing God for regardless of what the facts state. What this verse is actually saying is; Return to the fortress (the place where you are protected from being attacked) you who have been captured by the one who can save you! For Jesus is our hope so therefore we are His prisoners. Those of us who have been captured by the Lord need to hold on to those promises and not let go. In the middle of our darkest hour when everything seems impossible, irreparable and bleak we can turn to the one who is well able to deliver and restore. In Joshua 1:1-24 Rahab believed for her entire household to be saved and they were - she was a prisoner of hope. In 2Kings 4:8-36 the Shunnamite woman was a prisoner of hope when she went to the prophet to pray for her dead son and his life was returned to him and in Mark 7:24-30 the Canaanite woman became a prisoner of hope when she came to Jesus to heal her demon possessed daughter. Even when Jesus told her that the promise was not for her she held on and would not let go until Jesus saw her great determination and faith and healed her daughter. These women held on to their hope even when their circumstances seemed incurable, they held on to their anchor, to God almighty. Let's learn from these amazing women and hold on to our promises and not give up - let us become prisoners of hope.
