The Bible is full of men and women of God who had great faith but the one that stands out is the woman who surprised even Jesus with her faith. This story is found in Matthew 15:21-28, the Bible tells us that she was a Gentile woman meaning that the covenant and promises of God were not for her. But she had heard of the great miracles that Jesus was doing and she had a great need. Those of us who have children can relate to a woman who is desperate for a move of God on behalf of her child. This was a woman desperate and broken because her daughter was severely demon possessed. So, she came to the Master, knowing that she had no legal right to approach but counting on His mercy and compassion. I can just imagine how frightened she must have been but when you have no one else to go to - you do what you have to do. That's what she did, but as she approached Jesus disciples rebuked her and demanded that she leave. They complained to Jesus and even He told her that He could not help her but she persisted. For you see, when a person is in dire need they will stay where God's presence is as long as needed. She had heard of Jesus power and goodness and was willing to submit and humble herself to obtain a touch from Him. This is when Jesus stopped and realized that this woman had more faith than He had ever seen. She wowed him with her faith in the power and ability of God. Thus she received her miracle. How much more will we, who are part of the covenant, recieve our miracle from God if we persist and stay in His presence.
